Back Home

So we played Bolton Albert Halls on Saturday night, lovely venue!

Then it was several hours in the van back down South to East Grinstead in time to set up for the L. Ron Hubbard Centenary Charity Concert. This was packed with dancers and non dancers alike and was a great show. Thanks to the very many special guests who took part including Kenny Ball, Motown legend Louvain Demps, Heidi Vogel, Robin Banerjee, Cody "Boogie Boy" Lee, Rebecca Grant, Tony Socci, Dominic Pizinat, Martin Smith and Peter Huszar.

By the way, we aired on channel 4's "4 Thought" series last night too. You can see it online here: http://is.gd/jiveaces4thought

The Jive Aces were top of the bill at the Grand Order of Water Rats Christmas Ball last Sunday performing to a veritable who's who of British talent and members of the entertainment industry.

The Waters Rats are a charitable association of top UK entertainers that started 120 years ago. Last year the Jive Aces played an early spot before Tony Christie and it was so successful that this year they were
asked back to headline.

Before and after the show they got to rub shoulders with the stars and listened to the speeches and stories they told during the dinner.

Amoungst the guests were Carry On star Barbara Windsor, Fawlty Tower's Andrew Sachs, magic man Paul Daniels and Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain.

One particular star that drew their attention was British rock n roll singer Jess Conrad who as you probably know was one of the British stars, along with Marty Wilde, Billy Fury and Joe Brown, who toured with Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent on their famous UK tour. He was voted UK's favourite singer in 1961.

"Jess Conrad gave a great speech as he proposed the toast to the lady guests at the ball. He still looks great and has a great sense of humour", said lead singer Ian Clarkson. "The whole night was fun and the
atmosphere was amazing, despite being famous the guests were all really down to earth and friendly".

Summer Jamboree, Senigalia, Italy

We just got back from our first ever appearance at the nine day long Summer Jamboree in Senigalia. Wow, what a festival, set in the beautiful town of Senigalia in the shadow of an immaculate Roman castle, great weather and thousands of people from all over Europe and further, it was quite an experience (albeit a short one!).

There were even a few familiar faces in the crowd, Natasha (of Paul and Natasha fame), Nick and Gina (boyo!), Marcus (of Marcus and Barby fame) amongst others. We also bumped into Andy Widder and apart form ourselves, the UK was represented by both Claire Austin (Voodoo Doll) and Terry Elliott who were both DJing at the festival.

Big thanks to Angelo for having us. Check out some of the photos below.
Sound Check

Relaxing on the beach after the gig!

Sildajazz '08, Haugesund, Norway

Another year, another Sildajazz and this year was the busiest and most successful so far. With a record number of performances with record attendanc that took us from the usual nightly "Byscenen" (which means "City Stage" in Norwegian) gig to the half-time show at Haugesund FC stadium to the late-night jam sessions with the great fish soup to the live national and regional radio and TV broadcasts, it was quite exhausting for 4 days work!

Toni Elizabeth Prima and Keely Smith were along for the ride too. Tony Socci, winner of "The Youngest Looking Trumpet Player Of The Year Award" from Birmingham even flew over on a days notice to jam along.

It was great to see Jackson Sloane and the lads fro Oo Bop Sh'Bam over for the first time and we also got a chance to catch up with George and the Roaring 40s as well as Harry Connolly and his Jazz Friends.

Herbie Hancock and Curtis Stigers headlined the festival this year. Check out the photos below and see you all next year.

Summertime Swing '08

Summertime Swing was an absolute howling success! We had a record 1250 (approx) people which is almost double last year! Looks like we have raised a good couple of grand for charity too (The Bluebell Railway and Sightsavers International).

Thanks to everyone who helped including all the ticket sellers, anyone that put out flyers and sent emails, Facebook or Myspace messages etc and a huge thanks to the staff at Saint Hill Manor.

Check out these pics...
