Derry Jazz Festival.
As usual it was the best ever in many ways. We played for the second
time at the Playtrail with 10 different schools from around Derry
attending and we also played for the first time at St. Patricks' School
which is the biggest primary school in Northern Ireland. It was also the
first time that all 830 kids had been in the same place at the same time
in the school's history.
We also appeared on two front pages in the news, played live on air on
Mark Patterson's show on BBC Foyle and also pegging it to Belfast one
afternoon between gigs to appear live on George Jones' show on U Radio.
We also ended up extending the festival by two days by starting a day
early with the first gig at the Gweedore Bar on Wednesday and the last
on the Monday in the Strand Bar. The reason for that is because we had
to fly back to London on Saturday to perform for the Variety Club
International conference opening night with Tony Hatch doing MC duties
(see the pic).
